Ever go thrifting and something is just a bit too expensive (and you're with your boyfriend who thinks you buy way too much vintage furniture anyway) so you decide to leave it there and think about it and then when you go back its gone and you realize how amazing it was?  Yeah me too...What super sucks is this has happened to me the past two times first was this "De La Tour" type chair only it was lower and I'm sure it was original, I could just picture it with a sheep skin in the bedroom, then was this^ lamp (pictured on the checkered side table, the bf wasn't there for this one) I knew it was awesome but the wiring made me a little uneasy.  What a bummer.  Either way lessons learned: 1. don't bring the boyfriend shopping because you know he'll be practical and who needs that, 2.  go with your gut and get it, you can always sell it later.

I love the art we have in the bedroom but they're not, how do you say, relaxing.  I'm now on the look out for something more serene, like the latest work by Ori Gersht. While I know I can't have these, maybe I can swap mine out for some older works...

Mmmm...summer time lunch. Grilled mahi mahi burger (new from Trader Joe's and pretty darn good) wasabi mayo, arugula from my garden and avocado, grilled onion, and grilled corn fresh from the farmer's market.  Speaking of which I will be doing a Saturdays at the Farmers Market post from last week as soon as the mister takes the pics off his fancy camera.

The perfect light weight top(s) for summer!  Here's some of the easy breezy things I picked up at the James Perse sample sale a few weeks ago and haven't stopped wearing since.

I've been really bad at posting food and recipes lately because I really haven't been making anything that amazing.  It's pretty much Justin on the grill most nights which is a-o-fine with me!

Anywho that being said I had to make a dish for a vegetarian birthday/housewarming party this weekend and decided to experiment with quinoa.  The end result: quinoa with grilled asparagus, grilled red onion and heirloom tomato with a dijon vinaigrette.

Ok here is my garden post I promised.  The garden box is going crazy, its really hard to believe that you can grow so many yummy fruits and veggies in such a small space, but it's working!

I finally finished my teepee! Well almost, I'm planning on using leather chord to tie the posts together as well as secure the "walls" to the posts.  Also it needs a little decoration, but that will just have to wait for now.  Anywho the process was really simple and I recommend that anyone thinking about making one should go for it.  Here is how I achieved teepeedom.

Step 1:Get yourself some posts.  I found mine at my local nursery for only $3.99 a piece.  I believe the length is 8 feet.
Step 2: Tie that s*** together.  Like I said, I'm planning on using leather, but used canvas fabric I had laying around in the meantime.
Step 3:  If the neighbor's dog won't leave you alone take one of those $3.99 price tags and try to return it to said nursery.
(Step 3 works for any dog, ^Ali)
Step 4:  Space the posts out to your liking, I wanted mine to be super huge.
Step 5: Measure, measure, measure.
Step 6: Cut...after you've measured.
Step 7:  Sew panels together using heavy weight thread using a stretch stitch.  Reinforce the edges.
Step 8:  Decorate with blankets, pillows, door mats, puppies, and enjoy!

I only just looked at the label of what I was spraying on my little veggie garden, which by the way is doing super amazing! I kinda wish there was a Captain Jack's Deadbug Brew (sounds like a summer ale) for people cause I would be drinking it right now.  Also, it smells like English Muffins outside and I want one.

Just scored this little piece o' pyrite from a lovely little shop.  I need to stop buying things, but for $11 how could I say no?

I can't help but wishing restaurant design in LA was up to par with that in New York.  Take for example Boqueria above.  It may be me but when I go it seems like even the not so good restaurants in NY look better and the food tastes better, maybe there are just more of them, maybe the food is better, either way step it up LA I'm bored!
