Yesterday evening = magic.  It was warm and dreamy out, the sky turned all shades of pink, we heard thunder in the distance and all of a sudden there was lightning and a light drizzle, and to top it all off a coyote decided it was a nice night to take a stroll down our street.  I'm pretty sure he gave me a little smile as he walked by our house.  Happy...

I love my cowboy boots but sometimes feel like they were such a big trend that I can't wear them anymore.  Am I crazy?  Anywho I found these fantabulous boots at Need Supply Co. and thought they're the perfect combo of a short Frye motorcycle boot and a cowboy boot so therefore are okay to wear...and had to buy them!  Oh also I was thinking of dying them black but we'll see, the gray looks pretty awesome too.

I know this doesn't really count a "music" per say but I was talking with my man and found out he had never seen these GI Joe PSA spoofs...so naturally I had to share them here.  They make me laugh, I hope they do the same for you!

The perfect pants for fall...if it ever comes.  I saw these on my sister and can't wait to get a pair for myself.

I can't fit a desk in my bedroom...but that doesn't stop me from dreaming.  I love the idea of a thin clean white desk that can double as a display.  Also I'm kinda in love with built-ins.

Ok so here are a couple of projects that I recently finished.  First Ali's dog bed.  We got her a new round pouf but she really doesn't like it (she likes to stretch out).  She gets really happy whenever we bring the old uggo one out, I hate the thing but Justin seems to think our dog's comfort is of some importance.  As a compromise I drove on down to Michael Levine bought some faux bois fabric and made a cover out of something I think I can live with.  I wish I could have found a fabric just a touch darker so it really blends in with the floor.  (umm ignore how dirty I let the wall get in the before photo...eww on me)
Next the bench.  I bought this old bench a few years back with the intention of fixing it up, only I didn't really know how to go about it.  Instead of researching wood stains and all that jazz (it's really poorly made why waste my time) I took the black paint left over from the teepee design and just painted the thing and sprayed the legs with Krylon spray paint in matte back.  I think it gives the little guy new life. One more step in the process of making my home less frumpy and one more thing I get to check off the list!
...I love lists...

I've been obsessed with caesar salads for the past few months (I don't get it either) so I decided to try making my own veggie version.  I (Justin) grilled up some squash and green onion (so yummy and sweet) and served it with tossed Farmers Market greens, shaved parmesan, and garlic croutons.  Also I'm in desperate need of some new recipes for the pounds of squash and zucchini we always end up with from the Farmers Market, any ideas?

Saw this DIY coffee table over at For Me, For You and had to steal the idea.  I've already ordered up the hairpin legs and will be planning a trip to Ikea for the top as soon as they arrive.  I can't wait to get rid of the old mid-century table we have now.  I've been overwhelmed by the feeling lately that my place could use some freshening up and this table will be the perfect first step!
ps.  I've done a few DIY projects that I still have to take the after pics of and will be posting those soon!

*Just a little side note: I went to Ikea to pick up this top for my new coffee table and learned it was in fact butcher block, I don't know how I missed it (maybe because it was referred to as solid oak in the original blog post), all I do know is I had my first panic attack.  It wasn't just the fact that I drove all the way to Ikea in 90 plus degree weather only to find what I have been dreaming of for the past week doesn't exist, this random woman also stopped in her tracks while I was freaking out (quietly in my head), turned around and said "can I give you my card, I'm sensing something, I'm a physic."  All I could do was stare at her...and proceed to float through the nest half of Ikea like a zombie.  I will be looking for a nice piece of selvedge wood for the top now, thanks to my little sista and my good friend who thank god picked up their phones and talked me through it!  Did I say a little side note, sorry I meant a crazy long rant.*

I'm loving the new Junip album, it's like José González with a little more...how do you say... pep.

Sorry for the lack of posting,  I got whatever sickness has been going around, and that in combination with an unexpected house guest has left me with literally no computer time.  That being said I did get to hang out in the teepee with my Dwell magazine and fell in love with the built in headboard/console from the home of founder Lara Headberg Deam.  I'm thinking this will be my next project...

I've rediscovered the wonder that is my Domino book of decorating and I keep going back to this dining room.  So what did I do?  I drove on down to Chinatown and found the most gigantic paper lantern they had and scooped it up.  I haven't put it up yet but something about playing with scale makes me really happy. Yes, strange random things make me happy like U's.

ps. if you haven't already don't forget to vote for my casa over at the selby contest, every vote counts and we're still pretty low. spanks!!!
